King Khan: Yes, now you can keep him your role model

Click to see full screen image.

I wonder if any one would bother to read the post when the beefcakes above ogle you at their masculine best. Yes the pictures are for real and Sharukh is shirtless. Well I can and get tempted to write on and on about his new toned body, but this is not what I intend to write about it in this post.

Some time back I found my sixteen year old sister be a part if 'I am proud of Sushmita Sen ' community in Orkut. It disappointed me. Has the world today stooped so low that the youth are unable to find worthy role models to emulate. I immediately picked up a book, “Great Women of 20th Century” and thrusted it into her hands. The fact that she hasnt flipped a page is a different story.

I never considered film starts to be worthy of being role models. And amongst them, Sushmita Sen????. Can you believe it? But today, there stands out a name among them who rises above the crowd and says. 'Hello! I am there. I am not like the others'. He is Shahrukh Khan. And yes, he is definitely not like the others. For me, a role model is someone who embodies traits that are close to a real hero. Humans are mortals. We all have our own crosses to bear. We all have a feet of clay. We all err. But a role model, in spite of these frailties of life, embodies traits that are close to that mythical hero. And for me Sharukh Khan can qualify to be a role model. And I have no qualms if the youth emulates the spirit behind the man.

Why Shahrukh is close to be a role model:

  • He has made it big with his own might without crutches. A la rags to riches story.

Lesson: There are no short cuts to success. The only ladder is perseverance and hard
work.

  • Unlike many of his peers who lost it not being able to handle success, Sharukh has maintained that equanimity of his mind. He knows his roots and sticks his foot firmly on the ground.

Lesson: Don’t underestimate the power of humility.

  • The way he has conducted himself in public in all these years. I have never seen involved in controversies, open mud slinging, losing steam even though surviving in an industry where every move of yours is under public scrutiny.

Lesson: Learn to be a good human being first. Everything else is secondary

  • Unflagging hunger to excel and stay at the top. This is by far the best trait in him in my opinion. It is difficult to reach to the top but it is million times more taxing to maintain that position. Why on earth would he slog at this age to get the six packs that you see in the picture. He is above forty sitting pretty on the top. But no. He still senses that some of the younger actors are a threat to him. He might be childis in saying that the six packs are a gift for his son, but we know you Sharukh. You are too public to hide this.

Lesson: Keep that hunger in your belly alive.

Hi Ravi,
Very surprised to read that "Sushmita sen" cannot be a Role model but SRK can be.
Sush is the only one Miss Universe of India who kept her word. Do you know she adopted a girl child? what if she cannot be a Top No 1 heroin. Isn't she a Great mother to that baby?

Just because SRK is No 1 and maintaing No 1 position at box office I don't think He can be Role model.

Ravi...found your article quite interesting...
I was infact bewildered by your comment that Sushmita cannot be a role model!!!
I think Sush is a very different individual and has a very different persona all together.
She is confident, lives life on her own terms and conditions, good single mother and is a role model to all the youngsters.
If Shahruk has made it from Rags to Riches the same applies to Sushmita also.
I agree with you that SRK can be a role model but disagree when you say that Sushmita cannt be one!!!

Hi Ravi,

Even I would agree with Smitha and Nivedita.

First of all, we do not know what the actors are in their personal life. Further, as Smitha has highlighted, adopting a girl child is no small thing. Also, as Nivedita said, she lives life on her own terms and conditions.

But, certainly, I would agree with you for all the comments you made about Shah Rukh. We see that struggle in his performance all the time.

Iam also surprised to read ur article...

I dont think Sharukh can be considered as a role model..

He is in the top position, tat i agree.. but has he done anything for the society or ateast one human being...? I dont think so..

How can u compare him with Sushmita and say that Sushmita cannot be a role model..

If u have told this thing about Aishwarya Rai, i would have agreed.

But iam really sorry i wont agrree with you.

Sushmita wont be the best actress in bollywood, but she is a great woman..

She has adopted 2 babies.. And she taking care of them..

And for that she has sacrifised her career..

How can u compare such a woman with Sharukh...

And have u ever seen Sharukh wearing a dress that was not designed by some great fashion designers..

But Sushmita..

There also she was different...

The gown she had weared on the day she was crowned as Miss universe.. It was not designed by any fashion desgner..

She selected it from a poor tailor in some rural area..(Sorry.. i forgot the details of that).

Hope u will understand that the people who is in the top position is not the greatest
