Dissecting Israel’s technological hegemony

I always knew that Israel enjoyed a certain technological prowess in the world today. But never knew the facts. While working on an initiative promoting Indo-Israel technical collaboration, I had a chance to read the facts with numbers. And they were startling. Today Israel is beyond any country in the field of technology. And I will share with you numbers to corroborate my statement. First a brief introduction of the country that is a tiny speck in the world map.


Look at the literacy rate percentage. And their people do not know the meaning of rural. Internet users are close to 40%. Astounding.

Jaffa Oranges/Software

Well a quick glance at Jaffa Oranges in Wikipedia would tell you that Israel is the only country to export maximum Jaffa organges in the world. But compare it with its software exports:

R&D Expenditure

Lets move over to civilian R&D expenditure by its Govt in comparison to some other technological advanced countries.





Nobel Prize winners

Israel has produced four Nobel prize winning scientists and publishes among the most scientific papers per capita of any country in the world.

4.6 % of the country’s GDP is the largest amongst all nations which is close to 7 billion dollars.



Startup culture

Wikipedia states that Israel has the second largest number of startup companies in the world after USA.



The major inventions that happened in Israel:



Another indicator to gauge their technical DNA is that Israel boasts of having 140 scientists per 10,000 people. That’s a staggering number
